I’ve grown up reading about Lenin, space race, cold war, USSR and the current Annexation of Crimea. Being a movie buff have seen a lot of movies/TV dramas from the west with Russia being portrayed a Rogue nation which breeds the Villains of the bond movies!
Russia as we all know has always been the political heavyweight who cannot be befriended but also cannot be ignored. Though I was working with a bunch of Ukrainians who had a biased vision again Russia and quite sceptical about travelling to Russia, I still wanted to see it for myself. I had a lot of unanswered questions about the place, the people, their communist roots and more importantly was it really that bad!
My trip to Russia takes me across Saint Petersburg first and then a Train journey across to the Capital Moscow.
