Moscow metro is one of the most beautiful metros I’ve ever visited. It can actually be listed as one of the must see attractions of Moscow(Read more). However it is a little hard to navigate the metro mainly because of the lack of English knowledge and strict adherence to Russian.

It’s worth carrying both the maps to simply translate from Russian to English. All Metro stations are marked with Latin letter ‘M’.
Each person in your party does not necessarily have to have a separate ticket. If there are two of you, you can each ride 5 times, on a 10 ride ticket. Each metro station has a ticket office, in Russian it’s written “KACCA“. So, simply step up to the cashier and hold up ten (or five or one) fingers, and put your money down. The cashier will give you a card, which serves as your ticket. The cashier will also make change, if you don’t have exact change.
When inside the train not all of them have stations listed. So its best to count the number of stations and look out for station names on the platform as they emerge. At times stations could have multiple exits but not worry as these exits are not far off each other. Russian Metro is quite safe and clean and has a unique character in its mosaics, painting, chandeliers etc.
Aeroexpress trains to Moscow Airport (Sheremetyevo International Airport) run from Belorusskaya rail terminal which is on Metro line 5. So you could easily use the metro to reach Belorusskaya terminal.
